I think so often of a line you wrote in an essay about your daughter's asthma: "I can survive my life." Your work does such a tremendous job of holding the horrors and the joys in the same space without using one to douse the other.

Evie, I would read anything you write, all day long. Yours is the only newsletter I get where I stop what I'm doing and read it right away. This was so beautiful and true. I hope Desi is doing okay!

I got literally light-headed/pukey feeling while reading this which I think speaks positively about your ability to write a descriptive sentence…

That said, sorry you had to go through that ordeal, hope your kid is healing okay!

The head lice was such an unexpected twist! I'm glad y'all are all ok! I had a total freakout when my first baby was 4 months old and I realized that whatever I was going to do to mess him up, I was already doing it and I didn't know. Your description of that feeling is so much better!

I lol’d several times. I do hope the potato peels heal up nicely and the lice gets killed and a nice summer is had by all. Thanks for the perspective and the chortles of laughter as I stare sleep deprived at my two week old.

This is stunning. so glad your son is recovering okay. I’m 33weeks awaiting my third, about to move, have a stomach bug, and so desperately needed this last paragraph. Thank you.
