Ok guys I’m a family photographer and a mom of 2 and this I double relate too but also makes me sad.
Yes we all have cell phones to take photos but also why didn’t the photographers make these fun?! For everyone, kids included.
I’m not sure where your located (I get the PNW vibes from you which I love) but if you need another shot for photos that don’t suck and you don’t have a terrible time, hit me up. I gotchu.
Last year we went to a wedding and the photographer was obsessed with my son (he was almost two at the time and really, really cute) so he took one great photo of us. I got it just in time to make the card. We lucked out!
I just can't bring myself to spend the money on a photographer this year, but I realize we have exactly zero holiday card worthy family photos...! Oh well!
I have to say that reading this is so funny, (only in retrospect of course)has assuaged me of some of the guilt I have felt for only doing one real photo shoot of our family (where the photographer under exposed half the sessions, real film days). I just couldn’t go through all that again and kept putting it off till ‘next year’. Boys are now 20 and 17- no great family photos since 2 and 4 -maybe we will do one now before they have both flown? I think I will, because oh your photos are so darling and you don’t get the time back. (But I might have my friend take one, like the one you did because it’s frankly one of your best ones! ) Enjoy these crazy family moments you captured each year. Thanks for sharing!
My spouse has historically been the instigator of family photos, but this year he hasn’t said anything and even mentioned using our kid’s school photo as our Christmas card and I am elated! But also a little sad about not getting fancy photos this year! But not *so* sad that I’m going to do anything about it!
